The 2nd SEA the Future 2023
SEA the Future – In South-East Asia’s Maritime Industries
“Towards sustainable maritime community” is the theme of the 2nd SEA the Future Conference,
www.sea-future.com. Advanced thinkers from research laboratories, maritime authorities and industry will meet in Pattaya, Thailand, February 2023, to look into the crystal ball of how humankind will use the seas, and the increasing role South-East Asia will play in this future.
While the conference’s intent is to be a catalyst for joined maritime research and business activities in South-East Asia, participants from all over the world are invited, to share expertise and visions for a better way of using the seas.
AIMS AND SCOPES
- Safe(r shipping and environment) – The weakest link in terms of maritime safety is the human factor. The rapid development of autonomous technology for ships will affect shipping and its safety profoundly. Port development is a must. Managing the port in a sustainable fashion is necessary.
- Smart(er shipping technology) – Green is the new smart. Shipping is using advanced technologies, not just IT, to reduce its environmental footprint. Smart maritime education is indispensable. Maritime laws and policy need to get smarter and up-to-date.
- Sustainable (use of the oceans) – The sea is much more than just a “highway made of water” to transport goods and people. Coastal area is valuable. Coastal protection and management are important for community development. Sustainable prevention and management of marine pollution are necessary.

Invitation from
Vice President of Kasetsart University
Distinguished Delegates, Ladies and Gentleman :
On behalf of Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus, which is hosting the the 2nd SEA the Future Conference. Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus’s vision is to be: “Internationalization Leadership in Research and Academic at the East of Thailand”. In this 2023 conference, we have focused our attention on a challenge of critical global importance sustainable prevention.
The goal of our conference has been to share expertise and visions for a better way of using the seas, promote conversations on various challenges confronting higher education and the role of advanced thinkers in the field of maritime technology in coping with critical global issues, such as safer and smarter shipping technological evolution, sustainable use of the oceans and efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The theme ‘Future of Maritime Technology & Use of the Sea’ is intended as a platform for our university partners, and our industrial and commercial partners, to exchange knowledge and expertise in a variety of fields related to maritime technology and use of the sea. What we learn today will enable us all to think and act more clearly about the crisis that we all are facing.
It is my honor to extend my heartiest greetings and I would like to invite researchers from around the world to submit abstracts for oral presentation at our 2023 meeting in Pattaya, Chonburi, Thailand. Of course, we hope to welcome you in-person in the near future.
Best regards,

Invitation from Dean
Honorable Delegates, Ladies and Gentlemen:
SEA the Future 2023 is the second international conference aiming at sharing and exchanging the state-of-the-art knowledge, experience, and technology for sustainable development of maritime in South-East Asia (SEA) under the age of unprecedented (but expected) pandemic – COVID-19 – from participants in relevant industries and organisations all around the world.
It is our intention to organize this conference for the most benefit for all participants to have opportunities to directly discuss with mainstream researchers regarding relevant industries and organisations whose efforts and dedication will greatly contribute to the development of SEA maritime.
To successfully suit the conference purposes, Pattaya has been selected. Not only it is one of the most popular sea beaches in Thailand, but notably, it also represents an abundance of culture, fruits and seafood. If time available, participants may enjoy themselves either by playing water sports or joining a near-by island travel.
On behalf of the Faculty of International Maritime, Kasetsart University, we are looking forward to warmly welcoming each and every delegate at the Conference. We hope that you will enjoy during spend time in Pattaya, especially, you will find the conference as a profound, profession interesting, and unforgettable experiences.
Best regards,
Sarinya Sanitwong-Na-Ayutthaya
Dean of the Faculty of International Maritime Studies
